Financial Aid
Student Financial ServicesThe Financial Aid team is here to guide you and your family through the financial aid process and help you understand the funding options available to you. Nichols College offers both merit-based aid and other institutional aid to help reduce the cost of your education. If you have any questions, please contact our office at 508-213-2288 or SFS@nichols.edu, and a team member will be happy to assist you.
Why complete the FAFSA?
We use FAFSA information to determine your eligibility for federal, state, and institutional financial aid. You can file your FAFSA after October 1st, with our priority deadline being March 1st. Each state has its own FAFSA filing deadline, so it’s crucial to meet the March 1st deadline to ensure you receive the maximum amount of financial aid. Filing late may reduce your chances of receiving state or other sources of aid.
How do I complete the FAFSA?
Log on to https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa with your FSA ID. The FAFSA becomes available each year starting October 1st. You can complete your FAFSA using your prior-year’s tax information. For example, if you are applying for financial aid for the 2025-2026 academic year, you would use your 2023 tax information. Be sure to include the school code for Nichols College (002197).
For help completing your FAFSA, please make an appointment with your Financial Aid Counselor.
Loans
We highly recommend applying for enough loan to cover the cost of attendance for the entire year. If you need help determining the amount to borrow, please contact Student Financial Services for assistance.
Federal Direct Loans
The Federal Direct Loan program is a federally funded loan program with maximum loan amounts varying based on your year in school. Repayment begins 6 months after you graduate, withdraw, or enroll less than half-time. By completing the FAFSA each year, you automatically apply for Federal Direct Loans. Borrowers must complete a Federal Direct Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN), and first-time borrowers must also complete Federal Direct Loan Entrance Counseling.

Parent Plus Loan
Direct PLUS Loans help cover education expenses that other financial aid may not fully address. These loans are offered by the U.S. Department of Education to eligible parents through schools participating in the Direct Loan Program.
Private Loans
Nichols has curated a list of lenders we currently work with or have worked with in the past, available on a site called Elm Select. Please note that you are not limited to lenders on this list. This resource is designed to help you make an informed decision about which lender to choose.
