Commuter Tips

As a commuter student, you play a key role in our campus community. Since you travel to and from campus daily, it is important to plan ahead for factors like weather, construction, and traffic delays that could impact your arrival time. Before classes begin, try a few different routes to identify alternate options in case you ever need them.

All students are encouraged to download RAVE to receive time-sensitive alerts, such as class cancellations, delays, and emergency notifications. We also recommend using a reliable weather app to stay informed of conditions in Dudley and the surrounding area, as New England weather can change quickly and unexpectedly.

Things to Keep in Your Car or Backpack

  • Air pump or tire sealant
  • Blanket, pillow, and sleeping bag (for unexpected overnights or weather delays)
  • Phone charger
  • Flashlight
  • Spare cash or gas card
  • Ice scraper
  • Jumper cables
  • Shelf-stable snacks
  • Warm, waterproof jacket or extra layer
