About Residence Life
At Nichols we believe that residential living offers students the chance to live and learn in a supportive environment. We believe that a student should develop into a responsible citizen capable of giving back to their community, and that every single person is important and critical to our collective success. Our staff is made up of both student Resident Assistants (RAs) and full-time professional Area Coordinators (ACs) as well as student programmers and community managers. Our staff and policies are in place to strive to make our residence halls safe, convenient, and welcoming. Nichols students take personal responsibility for their behavior and surroundings and set high expectations for civility and community.
Living on campus during this exciting time of your life is a privilege, and your time at Nichols will not last forever. Take advantage while you’re here to make the most of it—leave your room, put down the cell phone, close that laptop, and engage with one another. Learn from one another, respect one another, and embrace all the opportunities that this wonderful campus holds for you.

Residence Halls
From first-year living to suites, doubles and apartment-style housing, our residence halls offer a variety of specialized living opportunities.
The largest residence hall on campus, Shamie Hall, houses more than 330 students. Common lounge areas, study rooms, and laundry rooms are located on each of the three floors. Shamie Hall primarily houses first-year students in triple rooms with private bathrooms in each room. Right outside of Shamie Hall is a wiffle ball field, half basketball court, and a patio for students to enjoy.
Relax and socialize in the 2nd floor Common Lounge, where there’s a pool table, as well as two big screen TVs for students to watch their favorite game or movie!
Shamie Hall is air conditioned with elevator access for students. As of Fall 2019, Shamie Hall renovations will be completed. This three year renovation project added a new lobby, lounge areas, community kitchens, and updated laundry facilities to the hall.
All Shamie rooms include a bed, mattress, wardrobe/dresser, desk, chair, shade/curtain, and shower curtain.
Located just in front of the Athletic Center, Budleigh Hall has a distinctive, classical architecture. The building is coed by room and has two large study lounges, community bathrooms, and accommodations for 75 students. It includes single occupancy rooms, however it is mostly double occupancy rooms. Budleigh Hall received brand new laundry machines in 2016, and new carpeting in 2017.
Center Hall is located between Remillard Hall and Budleigh Hall, and directly beside North Hall. The building is a single story, air-conditioned, all-male residence hall with a community bathroom, a study/recreation lounge, and laundry facilities. Students in Center Hall live in double-occupancy rooms, and in two quads. Center Hall received brand new laundry machines in 2016.
This green residence hall has recycled flooring, geothermal heating and cooling, low VOC paint and Energy Star appliances. It is coed by room with community bathrooms on each floor and a popular lounge/study space. It houses 65 students in double and triple-occupancy rooms. Olsen Hall received brand new laundry machines in 2016.
Remillard Hall (Rem) is home to more than 215 returning students on four floors of cluster concept housing. This brick and steel framed residence hall includes suites of double rooms with a shared bath, triple rooms with a shared bath and a few single rooms with personal baths. The lower level features two study lounges with a flat-screen TV in each, a public bathroom and a large laundry room. The building is located close to the Athletic Center and parking. In the Summer of 2018 the Rem main lobby received a beautiful renovation adding a community kitchen space! This building also houses an ATM machine (not bank specific).
Kuppenheimer (Kupp) Hall houses approximately 40 students and is comprised of 4 person (2 bedroom) suites with the exception of one 3 person suite. All suites come with their own bathroom and furnished living space. Kuppenheimer Hall’s laundry facilities are located on the first floor and are shared with South Hall. A kitchen is located on the second floor of Kuppenheimer Hall for all residents of the building to enjoy. Kupp is conveniently located next to Parking Lot N, and placed between Shamie and South Halls.
North Hall overlooks the volleyball and tennis courts, and is located directly next to Center Hall. This residence is a single story, air-conditioned, all-female building with a community bathroom, a study/recreation lounge, and laundry facilities. Students in North Hall live in double-occupancy rooms. North Hall received brand new laundry machines in 2016, and most rooms received new carpeting in 2017.
Our Copper Beech Residence Halls provide apartment-style living for our students. Each building houses 60 students in a combination of 2 bedroom/1 bath and 4 bedroom/2 bath suites. Each apartment provides a full kitchen and a living area.
